The wellbeing of every student is central to our mission as an educational community
Our approach to health and wellbeing focuses on nurturing the mind, body, and spirit
At the Australian Islamic College of Sydney (AICS), the wellbeing of every student is central to our mission as an educational community. We believe that students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and valued. Our approach to health and wellbeing focuses on nurturing the mind, body, and spirit, helping students develop resilience, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging.
Through a caring and supportive environment, AICS ensures that every student is guided not only in their academic development, but also in their personal growth and emotional wellbeing.
Nurturing the Mind
Students develop curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and academic confidence through engaging learning experiences that inspire lifelong knowledge, problem-solving, and intellectual growth.
Developing the Body
Students build healthy habits through sport, physical activity, and wellbeing programs that promote fitness, teamwork, resilience, balance, and lifelong healthy lifestyles.
Strengthening the Spirit
Students strengthen their faith through prayer, reflection, Islamic learning, and character development, nurturing gratitude, purpose, compassion, and a strong moral identity.
Our five step approach to wellness
01
A Culture of Care
Creating a safe and respectful school environment is essential to student wellbeing. At AICS, teachers and staff work closely with students to foster positive relationships built on trust, respect, and empathy.
Our school culture promotes kindness, responsibility, and compassion, encouraging students to support one another and develop meaningful friendships. Guided by Islamic values and the Prophetic model of character (Akhlaq), students learn to demonstrate integrity, humility, and respect in all interactions.
This culture of care helps students feel confident in expressing themselves, asking for support, and growing as individuals within a supportive community.
02
Supporting Emotional and Social Development
Student wellbeing extends beyond physical health to include emotional and social development. Through structured programs, pastoral care, and mentoring from teachers, students are supported in navigating challenges and developing strong interpersonal skills.
Students are encouraged to build resilience, manage challenges positively, and develop healthy relationships with their peers. Teachers play an important role in guiding students through important stages of personal development, ensuring they feel supported throughout their educational journey.
03
Healthy and Active Lifestyles
At AICS, we recognise the importance of physical health in supporting overall wellbeing. Students participate in regular Physical Education and sport, helping them build healthy habits, improve fitness, and develop teamwork and perseverance.
Through active play, organised sports, and health education, students learn the value of maintaining a balanced lifestyle that supports both physical and mental wellbeing.
04
Faith and Wellbeing
Spiritual wellbeing forms an important part of student life at AICS. Through daily prayers, reflection, and engagement with Islamic teachings, students develop a strong sense of identity, purpose, and inner balance.
Islamic values encourage students to care for themselves and others, promoting mindfulness, gratitude, and responsibility. This holistic approach supports students in developing not only academically, but as morally grounded and emotionally resilient individuals.
05
A Supportive Community
At AICS, wellbeing is a shared responsibility between students, teachers, and families. Through strong partnerships with parents and a commitment to student care, we work together to create an environment where every child can thrive.
Our goal is to ensure that every student feels supported, confident, and inspired, enabling them to reach their full potential and contribute positively to their communities.
